The objective of Navodaya Vidyalayas is to offer high-quality contemporary education, emphasizing cultural development, values inculcation, environmental awareness, adventure activities, and physical education, to exceptionally talented children primarily from rural areas, irrespective of their family's socio-economic status.
Admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is determined through a Selection Test, which is formulated and administered by the CBSE. The examination is referred to as the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). The program is non-verbal, unbiased towards social status, and specifically developed to provide equal opportunities for gifted youngsters from rural areas.
Enrollment
Enrollment in Class VI of the JNVs necessitates successful completion of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST), an admission examination devised, formulated, and administered by the CBSE. The JNVST for Class VI is held annually nationwide to identify the top 80 students for each JNV based on their merit. The process is carried out in three phases annually, based on the session structure in the particular state or union territory. Applicants are limited to a single application for the examination during their fifth grade. There are a total of 661 JNVs in India.
